Research, design and development of an innovative natural fiber door panel and a dedicated experimental automated production line.

The initiative originates from the growing importance of sustainability in the automotive sector, driven both by increasingly strict regulations on recyclability and emission reduction, and by a wider environmental awareness. Thinking sustainably today requires a deep rethinking of the entire production cycle, aimed at introducing green materials, more efficient processes, and strategies aligned with the principles of the circular economy.

 

Our focus is on a highly relevant interior component: the door panel trims. Excluding technologies designed exclusively for mass production, our research aims to develop sustainable solutions that can also be applied to mid-range vehicles. The objective is to transfer approaches that are currently used almost exclusively in premium and luxury segments, making them accessible to smaller-scale productions that are more oriented towards product customization and differentiation.
