PMI DAY 2025
EVERY COMPANY IS A SCHOOL THAT NEVER STOPS LEARNING

STR Automotive, together with Confindustria Pesaro and Urbino, has kicked off the fifteenth edition of PMI DAY, an initiative that brings high school students into local companies to help them understand production processes, learn about today’s most in-demand skills, and bridge the gap between education and the world of work.
On Friday, November 14th, the event featured:
• Massimo Cecchini, CEO of STR Automotive and President of Confindustria Pesaro and Urbino;
• Alessandro Pieraccini, President of the Small Industry Committee;
• Cecilia Papalini, President of the Young Entrepreneurs Group;
• Flavio Tonetto, National Delegate for PMI DAY.
On this occasion, STR welcomed a senior class from the “G. Benelli” I.P.S.I.A. Institute in Pesaro, specializing in Transport Vehicle Maintenance. The students were guided through the entire production process by visiting all the departments involved—from molding, to painting, and finally assembly.
The theme of the 2025 PMI DAY edition is “Choosing”: a broad cultural initiative and a commitment to young people, giving them the opportunity to discover the industrial excellence of our region and equipping them with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their future.
To choose, you must first understand
“I encourage young people to truly get to know our region […] which is rich in small, medium, and even large companies […] Look here for what you might otherwise search for elsewhere, because this province has a great deal to offer,” explains Alessandro Pieraccini, President of the Small Industry Committee.
The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the connection between schools and universities on one side, and the labour market on the other—supporting students as they shape their identity and understand their place in the world.
In this sense, it is essential for institutions, the public sector, and companies to work together and invest in young people, enabling them to enter the productive fabric of society in an informed and guided way.
“Today, young people are a scarce resource. We are well aware of the consequences of declining birth rates. This makes it even more important for us to involve and motivate them, to retain them in our companies and in our territory, and to allow them to fully express their value in the workplace—continuing to generate wealth, opportunities, and social wellbeing,” adds Massimo Cecchini, CEO of STR Automotive and President of Confindustria Pesaro and Urbino.

Sharing this vision, STR Automotive is proud to employ a large number of young people: among its 560 employees, the average age is 33, with relatively low turnover. The company also offers a wide range of professional roles in which young people can develop their aspirations.
The invitation is to strive to be attractive to younger generations by communicating clearly what opportunities and career paths companies in the province can offer.
“Joining a company like STR gives new colleagues the space to express their talents. We must provide them with the training and professional pathways the company requires […] while at the same time giving them the freedom to express themselves, unlock their potential, and contribute real value to our organization,” concludes Massimo Cecchini, CEO of STR Automotive and President of Confindustria Pesaro and Urbino.
